Edinburgh Trams
The Edinburgh trams are a convenient way to travel the city, with a tram line running around 9 miles from York Place to Edinburgh Airport. If you have a ridacard or a day ticket for Lothian buses, this can also be used for travel on the trams. When travelling from Leith to the centre of Edinburgh, buses are more commonly used, however a new project is underway to extend the tramlines to Newhaven. While residents aren’t too happy about the noise and disruption of the work taking place, it’s sure to be a useful and convenient way to travel when it’s finished.

Walking Distances
The great thing about Leith is there are so many places to go that are within walking distance. For example, from the Shore you can walk to:
- Ocean Terminal – ~10 minutes (0.4 miles)
- Princes street east end – ~45 minutes (2 miles)
- Newhaven Harbour – ~25 minutes (1.2 miles)
- Shore Cycle Path to Balerno – ~45 minutes by bike or ~4 hours walking (12 miles)
